You cannot take fasting literally (by not eating and drinking during that period), because it concerns the entire period from Ascension onward. What matters is that the longing to meet the bridegroom, Jesus, determines our lives, and that you are fully occupied with and preparing for this. Thus our lives today can be modest and sober, because the best is yet to come!
19 And Jesus said to them, “Can the wedding guests fast while the bridegroom is with them? As long as they have the bridegroom with them, they cannot fast.
