Mark 2:1–12 (ESV)

1 And when he returned to Capernaum after some days, it was reported that he was at home.

In the early chapters of Mark, after the call of the disciples of Jesus, we find many healing miracles that Jesus performed: the healing of a man possessed by an evil spirit, Peter’s mother-in-law, and someone with leprosy. Then follows the healing of the paralyzed man.

With these miracles he shows not only his (divine) power, but also his authority over all creation. Even the evil spirits are submitted to this authority.

People are flocking from all over, because of the miracles but also because of his message about the kingdom of God.

What is unique about the paralyzed man's healing? Jesus first forgives this sick person his sins and only then proceeds to heal the man.
