The husband now surrounds the wife with his love. The love of Christ, which for these two also marks the love for each other, leads them to be in each other’s arms.
That too is a wonderful gift that the Lord gives to his children in their lives: a gift that everyone may long for; a gift for which you may ask the Lord. This is not something outside the life with Christ. That is exactly why praying for love for one another and knowing this delight should be part of our personal and communal prayers in our marriage. You may long for it and pray for it when the Lord has not yet given it to you. Yet the way we long for it may still be a wrong one. The Holy Spirit shows this in the next verse, Song of Solomon 2:7.
6 His left hand is under my head, and his right hand embraces me!
