The God over all aspects of life

Exodus 4:1–17 (ESV)

1 Then Moses answered, “But behold, they will not believe me or listen to my voice, for they will say, ‘The LORD did not appear to you.’”

The Lord assured Moses that he was able to take away Egypt’s water source (drinking, washing, watering) and completely destroy their economy in an instant (transportation, trade). Anyone who would see water from the Nile turning to blood on dry ground after Moses poured it out would immediately recognize the enormous implications. It would be like seeing someone today who had the power to snap his fingers and all electricity stopped working. The Lord’s voice in the third sign declared that he was God over all the natural forces on which we depend, and so also in control over every aspect of a nation’s daily life, from the glass of water we drink on a hot day, through ongoing economic activity, and all the way up to rulers of nations in their international trade! May we also today see the glory of God revealed in the signs and humble ourselves before his majesty.
