Seeing the hand of the Lord

Ezra 7:6 (ESV)

6 this Ezra went up from Babylonia. He was a scribe skilled in the Law of Moses that the LORD, the God of Israel, had given, and the king granted him all that he asked, for the hand of the LORD his God was on him.

How often do we interpret the events in our lives from a very limited perspective? [We overcome that temptation] by gaining a larger perspective. That is why we have the Bible; it enables us to lift our eyes up. It enables us to look at things from a bigger perspective, from God's perspective. Why do we doubt? Because we lose that perspective. I think that is one of the reasons why we come to church on Sundays, isn't it? To be able to stop all that we are doing during the week in all of the business, and gain a heavenly perspective again. Hopefully we do that. We stop and we look up. We worship God. We hear from God's Word. We orient our thinking. We go up into heaven and then come back down from heaven and then we can look around at the things we were experiencing and things we are going to experience and say, okay, I want to keep in mind that God is in control here. God is sovereign.1
