Ezra was a young man. How is he described? He is a man who set his heart. He was determined, focused, and consumed with his passion to study the law of God, practice it himself, and teach others. Why? So that they will know the truth and they will practise the truth and God will get his glory. And it has to be the prayer of the church that God would be raising up another generation of young men to go into the ministry to do the same, because that is the great need of the church today. It is for God to raise up men like Ezra, who likewise will study the Word of God, practice it, and teach it. Because that is the means by which God is going to reform his people. That is the way that he is going to establish his kingdom; by the proclamation of the gospel and of the whole counsel of God.1

10 For Ezra had set his heart to study the Law of the LORD, and to do it and to teach his statutes and rules in Israel.
