Ezra 5:1–2 (ESV)

1 Now the prophets, Haggai and Zechariah the son of Iddo, prophesied to the Jews who were in Judah and Jerusalem, in the name of the God of Israel who was over them.

Preaching is nothing less than the establishment of the throne of God in the soul of a man. That is what it is. And so, do you have ears to hear? Do you hunger and thirst for God's Word so that you can grow? Do you hunger and thirst for God's Word so that you can be sanctified and honour him? Or are you just a sermon-taster? Do you know those yoghurt shops where the lady [works] in this multi-coloured outfit and she has cups and asks if you want to try one [of the flavours]? Then she puts a little bit in a cup, and then you can try all 31 flavours. That is how some people approach preaching. Just a little bit, just a taste. But God says, no, hunger for the Word. Hunger for the Word like a newborn baby hungers for his mother's milk. Do not be satisfied with anything less than that which confronts you in your sin and shows you Christ and the path of righteousness.1
