Repentance leads to action

Ezra 5:1–2 (ESV)

1 Now the prophets, Haggai and Zechariah the son of Iddo, prophesied to the Jews who were in Judah and Jerusalem, in the name of the God of Israel who was over them.

The two prophets, Haggai and Zechariah, bring God's Word to God's people in a way that brings them not only to repentance, but puts them on track of getting back to work. We need to remember that repentance never leads to idleness or inaction. Repentance always leads God's people to action. Repentance in the heart makes God's people doers. We are not quietists…We do not just sit and wait for God to do something. The repentant heart, the heart that is right with God, is now actively seeking to do [things] for God's glory.1
