Once again Joel points to the termination of the temple service. Do the people have no or too little regard for it? Do they even notice that (the service to) God is being affected? What does that mean to them? It has to penetrate into the heart of the people as to what is actually going on.
13 Put on sackcloth and lament, O priests; wail, O ministers of the altar. Go in, pass the night in sackcloth, O ministers of my God! Because grain offering and drink offering are withheld from the house of your God.
