Peace today because God will punish our enemies

Joel 3:14–17 (ESV)

14 Multitudes, multitudes, in the valley of decision! For the day of the LORD is near in the valley of decision.

When you know that God is on your side, that one day he will punish (his and) your enemies not only with words but also with deeds, that this shows his immeasurable love for you, then this gives you rest and peace for the present. Joel summarizes: today already you have someone who protects you, who is your strength, and who strengthens you! God himself adds: a new way of knowing will arise (see also Joel 2:27) within my people (Hebrews 10:16) through the Spirit of Pentecost (Acts 2:1–47; see above Joel 2:28–29). You will then truly experience that God dwells in the midst of his people (in Zion and Jerusalem as denoting Christ’s New Testament church). He is not just a passer-by there. He remains and dwells there. The strangers (enemies) will not be victorious. Ultimately, they are outside (Revelation 21:27).
