The husband’s cheeks are shining. He looks healthy. His lips are beautifully red, like lilies. They are as pleasant to her as myrrh. Liquid myrrh was used as a kind of perfume in those days. People liked the smell of this (see also Psalm 45:8; Proverbs 7:17; Esther 2:12).
