When the wife now looks at her husband’s hands, his legs, and his whole body, she sees how precious and important he is to her. The fact that he is precious to her is obvious from the fact that she calls his arms rods of gold.
This is further emphasized because in this gold, jewels are added. The second part of this verse also points to his precious beauty. His body is compared to polished ivory, inlaid with precious sapphire stones. Both ivory and sapphire were very expensive in those days.
