Does it make sense for these exiles to rejoice in their trials even as they await their inheritance?

1 Peter 1:7 (ESV)

7 so that the tested genuineness of your faith more precious than gold that perishes though it is tested by fire may be found to result in praise and glory and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ.

Though trials may prompt grief (1 Peter 1:6), the fact that someone comes through trials means that he is the real thing, that is, pure gold. Or, to stay with Peter’s analogy in 1 Peter 1:3, he has been born again and is a recipient of God’s inheritance. That is encouraging!
