Leviticus 6:1 – 7:38 further develops the principles of conduct for temple worship. Up until this point, the description of the sacrificial system of Israel had been directed to the entire nation. The material in chapters 6 and 7 is addressed specifically to the priesthood. There are, however, significant overlapping themes with Leviticus 1–5. Chapters 1-5 were addressed to the Israelite who had come to offer a sacrifice. These chapters focused on the types of animals required for sacrifice and what procedure was to be followed in the presentation of the offering. By way of contrast, chapters 6-7 focus on the role of the priest in worship.
