Why is Moses’ staff described as “the staff of God”?

Exodus 4:20 (ESV)

20 So Moses took his wife and his sons and had them ride on a donkey, and went back to the land of Egypt. And Moses took the staff of God in his hand.

This staff is called “the staff of God” because it would now serve to represent the Lord’s power on the earth, to both Israel and Egypt. Moses would not be returning to the cradle of Egypt as an Egyptian son but as the child of the Lord Most High!
