What is the thanksgiving sacrifice?

Leviticus 7:12 (ESV)

12 If he offers it for a thanksgiving, then he shall offer with the thanksgiving sacrifice unleavened loaves mixed with oil, unleavened wafers smeared with oil, and loaves of fine flour well mixed with oil.

The first type of peace offering is the tôḏāh (thanksgiving) offering. The term tôḏāh means confession or acknowledgment. This was a voluntary offering that was given to the Lord as an expression of gratitude. It appears to have been a frequent offering in the Old Testament (Amos 4:5; Psalm 107:22; Psalm 116:17; Jeremiah 17:26; Jeremiah 33:11).
