When the man thinks of his wife’s head, his thoughts turn to Mount Carmel. This mountain is mentioned several times in the Bible as one of the most beautiful mountains (see Isaiah 33:9; Isaiah 35:2; Amos 1:2).
The colour of her hair reminds him of the colour purple—a truly royal colour. Her hair, too, is so beautiful and so familiar to him.
