Here we read about Solomon’s vineyard. The words in Song of Solomon 8:11–12 are those spoken by the woman’s husband. The man in this book contrasts his vineyard with Solomon’s. King Solomon’s vineyard, worth a thousand pieces of silver, points to his harem. This property would require 200 keepers to take care of these women. We can read about this in 1 Kings 11:1–3, “Now King Solomon loved many foreign women, along with the daughter of Pharaoh: Moabite, Ammonite, Edomite, Sidonian, and Hittite women, from the nations concerning which the Lord had said to the people of Israel, You shall not enter into marriage with them, neither shall they with you, for surely they will turn away your heart after their gods.
Solomon clung to these in love. He had 700 wives, who were princesses, and 300 concubines. And his wives turned away his heart.”
11 Solomon had a vineyard at Baal-hamon; he let out the vineyard to keepers; each one was to bring for its fruit a thousand pieces of silver.
