The psalmist continues to use the imagery of water, but now in a positive sense. Instead of the threatening images in the previous verses, he paints a picture of a river with tributaries. It does not destroy but brings joy. Drinking water was infinitely precious in those arid regions, and this verse compares the blessing of the temple with the blessing of a river in a dry land.
4 There is a river whose streams make glad the city of God, the holy habitation of the Most High.
