Psalm 65:1 (ESV)

1 Praise is due to you, O God, in Zion, and to you shall vows be performed.

Some Bible translations (e.g. NAS) have the words quiet is due to you instead of praise is due to you. In difficult times, the Lord requires that his people wait for him quietly. The Lord is good to those who wait for him, to the soul who seeks him. It is good that one should wait quietly for the salvation of the Lord. It is good for a man that he bear the yoke in his youth. Let him sit alone in silence when it is laid on him; let him put his mouth in the dust—there may yet be hope (Lamentations 3:25–29). Waiting in humble silence is directly opposed to the resistance to God’s judgment. Once the people humbled themselves before the Lord, it was time to bring songs of praise. Praise as well as silence is due to the Lord.
