1. 1 Peter 2:7 (ESV)
  2. Exposition

With Jesus as the “cornerstone,” what is the identity of Peter’s readers?

1 Peter 2:7 (ESV)

7 So the honor is for you who believe, but for those who do not believe, “The stone that the builders rejected has become the cornerstone,”

Peter's readers, as “living stones” in the walls of the spiritual house God is building, are held together and are connected to one another by means of that (large) stone in the corner known as Jesus Christ. Without him, this spiritual house would not stand or endure; with him this house is eternally secure. That Peter’s readers (and all believers) have a place as building blocks in this house is then an “honor.”
