The language used at the beginning of the prayer is consistent with other prayers from the Old Testament (see Psalm 146:6; Isaiah 37:16; 2 Kings 19:15). It is a recognition that God is the omnipotent Ruler whose authority extends over all. He remains in control over the Jewish council and all future events that the believers will experience.1
