8 Finally, all of you, have unity of mind, sympathy, brotherly love, a tender heart, and a humble mind.

Even as this paragraph summarizes the instruction of the preceding section (1 Peter 2:11 – 3:7), it forms a bridge to the next major section of Peter’s letter, 1 Peter 3:13 – 4:11. In that section of his letter Peter underscores the need for doing good even when faced with “evil” and “reviling.”
