The Lord showed his approval of burnt offerings by sending heavenly fire on three other occasions: when the birth of Samson was announced to Manoah and his wife (Judges 13:15–20); when Solomon dedicated the temple (2 Chronicles 7:1–3); and when Elijah challenged the prophets of Baal on Mount Carmel (1 Kings 18:38–39).
24 And fire came out from before the LORD and consumed the burnt offering and the pieces of fat on the altar, and when all the people saw it, they shouted and fell on their faces.
