How old was Moses when he went out to his people?

Exodus 2:11 (ESV)

11 One day, when Moses had grown up, he went out to his people and looked on their burdens, and he saw an Egyptian beating a Hebrew, one of his people.

Moses was forty years old (Acts 7:23). His life can be divided into three periods: prince (until forty years of age); shepherd (from forty to eighty years of age); and leader of the Israelites (from eighty to hundred-and-twenty years of age).
