Luke is known in Paul’s writings as the beloved doctor (Colossians 4:14). He was one of Paul’s travelling companions and joined him on many journeys (Acts 16:10–17; Acts 20:5–16; Acts 21:1–18; Acts 27:1 – 28:16). Most likely he is mentioned because he was known to Philemon and the church in Colossae.
