Philemon was a brother in faith, and the owner of a slave called Onesimus. This Bible book, Philemon, is about the reconciliation of Philemon and Onesiumus.
Philemon was a wealthy man. He had a large house, big enough to host worship services on a Sunday morning. He had slaves as well as slave quarters. His house also had guest rooms (Philemon 1:22).
Philemon lived in a town called Colossae. Located in Asia Minor or what we know as Turkey today, Colossae was an important farming town famous for its delicious figs and olives.
