Who are the poor and the needy that Isaiah mentions?
Isaiah 14:30 (ESV)
30And the firstborn of the poor will graze, and the needy lie down in safety; but I will kill your root with famine, and your remnant it will slay.
The poor and the needy are presumably the oppressed Judahites. Pastoral images are used to portray how they, like sheep lying down safely in pasture, would find comfort and safety in God’s protection.
