Opposition against God's prophets

Exodus 5:20–21 (ESV)

20 They met Moses and Aaron, who were waiting for them, as they came out from Pharaoh;

Resistance to God’s prophets comes from God’s people themselves (see also Exodus 2:14). This culminated in the resistance against Jesus, and after his ascension, against those who bring the good news about Jesus (see Stephen’s speech in Acts 7:1–60). It is clear that division does not come only from the outside, but it can also originate within the church. Paul warns against this in Romans 16:17. Division is a means of the devil to break down God’s work and bring down his children.
