John records that he is called Faithful and True.
The Lord had used the same name to describe himself in his letter to Laodicea (Revelation 3:14), be it then as adjectives to modify his task as witness
(see also Revelation 1:5). Now he is not a witness but simply Faithful and True.
The reason for the difference is that in Revelation 19:11 this rider has not come to witness
what is happening in any given church but comes as Victor. This horse and rider had gone out in Revelation 6:2 conquering and to conquer.
Now that he has triumphed over Babylon (Revelation 17:14; Revelation 18:2) this horse and rider may rightly appear in the prize location in heaven (the horse is the first thing John sees!) with the rider publicly acclaimed as Faithful and True to the mandate earlier received.
11 Then I saw heaven opened, and behold, a white horse! The one sitting on it is called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he judges and makes war.
