Worship becomes practical

James 1:27 (ESV)

27 Religion that is pure and undefiled before God, the Father, is this: to visit orphans and widows in their affliction, and to keep oneself unstained from the world.

God himself is zealous for proper worship. God is zealous that we come to him in the forms that he has appointed and he wants us to be zealous for proper worship. He wants us to be zealous in the use of the public means of grace. But true religion does not stop there. If true religion is a matter of the heart, if we are going through these things because we love God, then it is going to be very concrete. It is going to be involved in ministering to the needy. It is going to manifest itself in practical piety.1
