According to the earlier chapters of Leviticus, if the blood of a sin offering is brought into the sanctuary, the victim must be completely burned up (Leviticus 6:30). However, if the blood is not taken into the Holy Place, it is the privilege and the duty of the officiating priests to eat the animal (Leviticus 6:24–29).
18 Behold, its blood was not brought into the inner part of the sanctuary. You certainly ought to have eaten it in the sanctuary, as I commanded.”
