Joshua 5:13—6:25 and the Trinity

Joshua 5:13–6:25 (ESV)

13 When Joshua was by Jericho, he lifted up his eyes and looked, and behold, a man was standing before him with his drawn sword in his hand. And Joshua went to him and said to him, “Are you for us, or for our adversaries?”

What does Joshua 5:13—6:25 reveal about who God the Father is?

The Lord is just and he will not allow sin to go unpunished. He promised to bring the descendants of Abraham into the land of Canaan when the sin of the Amorites was completed and now he is doing so. The Lord is faithful to his promises. He does what he says he will do.

The Lord is mighty and he is the one who destroys his enemies. He uses Israel as an instrument of his judgment but he is the one who has brought great fear on the people of Canaan and he is the one who caused the walls of Jericho to collapse.
