Why is the clause “and sealed it over him” added?

Revelation 20:3 (ESV)

3 and threw him into the pit, and shut it and sealed it over him, so that he might not deceive the nations any longer, until the thousand years were ended. After that he must be released for a little while.

The word “seal” is a central word in the book of Revelation (Revelation 6:1). In sealing this lock, we might envision wax being placed over the hole in the padlock so that anyone who attempted to tamper with the lock would inevitably leave evidence of his efforts (Daniel 6:17; Matthew 27:66). With this reference to sealing, the church receives assurance that her archenemy is imprisoned in such a way that he can never escape, deceiver though he be. The present dispensation is simply not in Satan’s control.
