Joshua 7 and the Trinity

Joshua 7:1–26 (ESV)

1 But the people of Israel broke faith in regard to the devoted things, for Achan the son of Carmi, son of Zabdi, son of Zerah, of the tribe of Judah, took some of the devoted things. And the anger of the LORD burned against the people of Israel.

What does Joshua 7 reveal about who God the Father is?

The Lord is concerned about the actions of his people. He wants them to share in his holiness and he disciplines them when they are disobedient to the terms of his covenant. God does not have double standards. He does not tolerate Canaanite sin, he does not tolerate Israelite sin. The overriding concern in this episode is the Lord’s demand for holiness and obedience and a concern for purity of worship.
