One can hear the sorrow and disappointment: you have rejected and disgraced us.
For the Lord did not fight along with Israel's armies. This is such a difference from the past where Israel fought against Amalek in Exodus 17:1–16, the holding up of Moses’ praying hands; and when Canaan was conquered, just think of how Jericho was received—what a celebration! This verse connects with Psalm 44:2. An army without God’s help is without power. God abandons his people.
9 But you have rejected us and disgraced us and have not gone out with our armies.
