What does 1 Samuel 14:1–23 reveal about who God the Father is? The Lord is powerful to save his people. He can save by the many (Saul, 1 Samuel 11:1–15) or the few (Jonathan, 1 Samuel 14:1–52).
The Lord is not to be manipulated or controlled. We cannot force him to act in keeping with our plans.
1 One day Jonathan the son of Saul said to the young man who carried his armor, “Come, let us go over to the Philistine garrison on the other side.” But he did not tell his father.
