Jonathan was confident that the Lord can do mighty works with limited resources and that he might be pleased to use Jonathan’s plan to rescue his people and bring about the defeat of Israel’s enemies.1 But Jonathan knew that the Lord was not obligated to use his plan, which is why he used the words may be.
