1 An oracle concerning Nineveh. The book of the vision of Nahum of Elkosh.

Nahum 1:1–15 is an introduction to the battle that is about to take place. In Nahum 2:1 – 3:19 the battle begins.

Introduction to the writer and his message (Nahum 1:1)

  • The Lord’s jealousy for his people (Nahum 1:2–3a)

  • The Lord’s judgment of his enemies (Nahum 1:3–6)

  • The Lord’s goodness to his people (Nahum 1:7–8)

  • The Lord’s judgment sets his people free from oppression (Nahum 1:9–13)

  • The Lord’s judgment restores true worship to his people (Nahum 1:14–15)
