Job 11:3 (ESV)

3 Should your babble silence men, and when you mock, shall no one shame you?

Job’s words, spoken out of deep despair, are dismissed as babble and mockery. In the biblical sense (see Psalm 1:1–6), to mock is to proudly elevate oneself above God’s Word. Zophar is determined to mock Job for this. The word mock means to put someone to shame in a court case. This shows how far Job and his friends have moved apart. His statements are now approached as those of a criminal, with a view to rebuking them one at a time.
