The opposition to Christ is getting stronger and stronger (Matthew 9:34). Christ does not turn his back on people, but he lets his message sound even louder and more powerful. He increases the effect of his message by appointing twelve disciples and making them competent to also proclaim the gospel.
1 And he called to him his twelve disciples and gave them authority over unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal every disease and every affliction.
