Christ as our blessing and riches

Psalm 144:1–15 (ESV)

1 Blessed be the LORD, my rock, who trains my hands for war, and my fingers for battle;

There is no greater blessing, no greater riches than Jesus Christ, David’s great Son, for he is proof that God is with his people (see Matthew 1:22–23). The situation, which is described in earthly terms in Psalm 144:12–14 as being blessed, will be fully realized through Jesus Christ, David’s great Son. This was promised to David (see e.g., 2 Samuel 7:4–14 and 1 Chronicles 17:10–14). This brings us back to the beginning of the psalm, namely the praising of the Lord. And that is the purpose of man, here and also later in eternity. Jesus Christ has opened the way for us to truly praise God.
