The prayer to shame the enemies continues: let them be silenced in shame. Then they have nothing more to say. Let them be shaken up, like a building that is completely moved off its foundations, so upset are they that they can no longer voice anything. Before this, they had a big mouth and laughed squarely at the author. When the Lord takes care of them, they have nothing more to say and will surely have nothing to laugh about. Being shamed is the worst that can happen to someone. In Psalm 40:14 and Psalm 40:15, the author requests shame/dishonour from God three times.
15 Let those be appalled because of their shame who say to me, “Aha, Aha!”
