The author’s enemies desire his downfall, and are thought to be happy with this, enjoying their Aha, aha
moment. But when God acts on it, everything changes. Then they stand ashamed.
The author again formulates a confession: Those, who seek their salvation with you, Lord, and want to please you, will rejoice and be glad in you. And that is not just some superficial happiness. They love the redeeming work of God; they cherish that. Continually they will say, Great is the Lord!
They are the people who expect their salvation from him, time and again.
Psalm 35:27 reads, “Let those who delight in my righteousness shout for joy and be glad and say evermore, Great is the Lord, who delights in the welfare of his servant!
” See Psalm 45:7 about God’s love for justice and his hatred for wickedness. Psalm 119:47 reads, for I find my delight in your commandments, which I love.
16 But may all who seek you rejoice and be glad in you; may those who love your salvation say continually, “Great is the LORD!”
