What is significant about what the people sought at the House of the Forest and what they actually found?

Isaiah 22:8–9 (ESV)

8 He has taken away the covering of Judah.In that day you looked to the weapons of the House of the Forest,

The people were looking for weapons for their defence, instead of looking to the Lord for their salvation. Instead of weapons, they found signs of neglect: breaches in the walls of Jerusalem. This is in stark contrast to the prayer in Psalm 51:18: “Do good to Zion in your good pleasure; build up the walls of Jerusalem.”
