1. 1 Samuel 15:25 (ESV)
  2. Exposition

Why did Saul want Samuel to go back with him?

1 Samuel 15:25 (ESV)

25 Now therefore, please pardon my sin and return with me that I may bow before the LORD.”

Saul was concerned about what people would think if Samuel did not join him to be present when he brought the various sacrifices. To his mind it would confirm that there was a rift between Saul and Samuel, that the Lord was displeased with the sacrifices. This would further undermine his authority and standing in the sight of his army and the elders of Israel (see 1 Samuel 15:30).1
