Goliath’s head (and possibly also his armour) were taken as trophies of war and a token of his brothers’ welfare.1 It is very unlikely that David had his own tent, seeing as he was a visitor to the battlefield. This tent is possibly Goliath’s tent with his armour and weapons also serving as David’s share of the plunder.2 It is also possible that the tent could be a reference to the tabernacle, the Lord’s tent, seeing as the sword of Goliath ended up being stored there (1 Samuel 21:9).3 Given the fact that the Lord had given the victory, it would make sense for David to give the plunder to the Lord (see Joshua 6:1–27).4
