He is already counted as someone who has gone down in a pit, from which there is no way out. He, who was once a strong man, is now powerless. It uses the Aramaic word “eyal” which means help.
But help is no longer available. It shows the hopeless situation in which Heman is. He feels that his fate is sealed. No one can save him from this pit. But God can, right? He asks why then there are no signs of that?
