The minds of Job’s friends are closed
: they cannot comprehend innocent suffering. Even in this Job sees the hand of God—it is he who closes minds. Yet Job also feels sure that God will not allow ignorance to triumph over truth. Job is right about this. God will eventually show the friends that they had been wrong (see Job 42:7).
4 Since you have closed their hearts to understanding, therefore you will not let them triumph.
