What does it mean that Samuel was buried in his house?

1 Samuel 25:1 (ESV)

1 Now Samuel died. And all Israel assembled and mourned for him, and they buried him in his house at Ramah.

Burial in a house is unusual and this is the only instance in the Bible where it is said to have taken place.1 It could be that it refers to burial outside his home or in his hometown.
